Lumos Connection-Related Issue

USB Cable Connection

 

Kindly note that MakeIt does not support Linux operating systems, ChromeOS, or computers powered by Snapdragon X series processors or ARM based.

 

When you connect your Lumos to the MakeIt software for the first time via a USB cable, click ‘WeCreate-on USB‘ in the device drop-down list to connect, regardless of any other laser names that may be displayed.

If you fail to connect, please follow the troubleshooting instructions below.

  • Unplug and then plug the USB cable back in at the back of your Lumos.
  • Try using a different USB port on your laptop or a USB to Type-C adapter.
  • If you have another laptop, try using that.
  • Ensure the laser module is placed in position and the screw securely tightened. 

If it is a Mac with macOS 15 or above, please try the following steps to resolve the problem:

  • Disable the firewall, then restart your Mac and check if the firewall is off before reconnection

  • Turn off the VPN if have
  • Disable and re-enable the local network.

  • Try connecting via USB to see if it works

If it is a laptop running windows operating system, please try the following steps to resolve the problem:

  • Check for Norton Antivirus:
    If your computer has Norton installed, please uninstall it and restart your computer.

 

  • Disable Any Antivirus Software:
    If you are using any other antivirus software, try temporarily disabling it and then check whether the USB can be recognized.

 

  • Update Driver Manually:
    Open Device Manager and check whether the USB device has been detected.

    If it is recognized as ‘Unknown USB device’, please update the driver by following the steps below.

     

    1. On your computer desktop, locate the MakeIt icon.

    2. Right-click the icon and select “Open file location.”

    3. Open the “Resource” folder.

    4. Go to driver > win > rndis.

    5. Based on your computer system, choose the correct version:

    • For a 64-bit system, select X64
    • For a 32-bit system, select X86
