Troubleshooting and Fixing Laser Engraving Offsets and Distortions

In some cases, you might find that the machine doesn’t engrave where the software and camera say it should. What’s worse, it may even produce distorted and weird results.

Possible reasons are as follows:
  • The machine is not put on a level and flat surface.
  • The laser beds are not sitting properly.

To Calibrate your camera and Adjust the X-axis Alignment, please refer to this post: What to Do if the Engraving/Cutting are offset?

If the issue remains, please check the X-axis belt, tighten the 2 screws on the X-axis belt pulley, and check the screws on the back of the laser head

Power off the machine first!

1. Check the X-axis Belt

Step 1: Touch the belt underneath the x-rail and check if it’s loosened or not.

  • Note: No matter whether it’s loosened or not, we strongly recommend you proceed with the following steps to ensure it is working properly.

Step 2: Use a screwdriver to loosen the 2 screws inside the bracket that holds the laser to the crossbar.

Step 3: Remove the little round black silicone sticker on the left panel of the machine. You will notice a small hole.

Step 4: Push the X-rail towards the back of the machine to reveal the screw that is used to adjust the X-axis belt.

Step 5: Use a hex key to rotate this screw, and use your hand to feel the X belt at the same time. When you can feel the tension of the belt, please stop and tape the black sticker back onto the small hole.

Step 6: Go back to the X-rail and tighten the two screws mentioned in step 2.

2. Tighten the 2 Screws for the Pully on the X-axis Belt

If the pulley has slid off the motor shaft and was sticking out beyond the cover. So much so, that the set screws would not tighten. Please push the pulley back on the shaft, and tighten the 2 set screws.

3. Check all Screws on the back of the Laser Head

There are 7 screws in total on the back of the laser head, any of which loosened or fallen off can cause deformation issues in the operation process, thereby impacting the final engraving effect. Please check whether they are loosened or not. If yes, please use a screwdriver to tighten these screws.

4. Broken Metal plate on the bottom bearing is broken in half.

Please remove the laser module first, then check if the washer is broken or not. If yes, please contact the support team for a replacement part.
